I’ve found the best way to educate is with humor. I am able to tap into the zeitgeist of our organization and make friendly, fun jokes that resonate with employees. You don’t have to make presentations serious to be serious about informing people. Each quarterly staff meeting had different themes, from album covers, to memes, to holiday movies. These were peppered throughout the presentation adding humor and fun, while also serving a purpose. Many times they would be used as a transition, letting people know when it was their turn to speak, and giving them time to come up in front of the group while the group was busy laughing or processing the jokes. Below you will see some samples.

The movie posters were made for a Hollywood-themed staff holiday party and all people in them are employees. Each one had a summary of the movie printed below it that played off jokes the employees would understand.

A silde for the marketing team using It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I removed Dee and put myself and the rest of the marketing team on the remaining bodies.

Station staff inserted into album covers

This theme was albums. Our Digital Director was a big Swiftie so I recreated the Reputation album cover. Our Director of Technology was one of my favorite photoshop victim as well as our GM. Both were always great sports. We had a wide swath of generations, so I had to ensure there was enough balance of older and newer references. There were also hits on the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, and more.

As part of our holiday themed presentation, our beloved Director of Technology made multiple appearances as the Grinch as well as a couple animated versions too.

Movie Posters from Hollywood Themed Holiday Party

This poster was based on the joke contest I suggested we run where people could enter to blow stuff up. Got stood up at the altar? Blow up the cake! Have a bunch of old stuff from an ex? Blow it up!

Our lead anchor, Chirstian Frank loved his dog Hank so much. So of course I had to put the two of them together! I knew the characters, just had to come up with a concept. I would actually love to see this movie.

We had a franchise called the Problem Solvers. Reporters helped viewers resolve problems with contractors, companies, and other issues when money was on the line. Our promotions for that franchise were very serious and tough. So this exaggerated Tropic Thunder poster was the perfect way to include them.

Kevin and Leigh Anne were both notorious bargain hunters with unique personalities, so this idea was a perfect fit.

Our GM, Patty, and one of her fun direct reports filled in for this perfect comedic romp. Anyone with a boss knows they can sometimes drive you crazy, and this played off that trope.

Janice Allen hosted the Pay It Forward franchise on our air, showcasing good people are doing in the community. With a guest appearance by her husband in the poster, I was able to blend her faith and her franchise together.

Our main morning anchor and news director were two fun characters, so just adding them to this poster was all that was needed to push for laughs. A poster of this is still hanging up in their offices.
