The space where you work impacts your attitude and effectiveness. I once worked in a space painted deep red. The tension that became the norm quickly led to a repainting. These two examples illustrate how we improved the environment to lift spirits and improve performance for very little money.
Each of these projects were completed for less than $1,000.

BEFORE: For the marketing offices, we took over this empty office space which left a lot to be desired. 50-year-old graying ceiling tiles, plain walls and bland cubicles filled the area. Returning to the building after working remotely for 18 months necessitated some changes to the environment to better fit what people were used to at home.

Our original offices were spread out over three dark, windowless rooms in the bowels of the building. Not conducive to creativity.

AFTER: We set out to liven up our creative space to encourage innovation and creativity.

Splashes of color, repainted ceiling, brighter fabric on the only cubicle half wall remaining, and some extra accessories completely revamped our marketing office and made it somewhere we wanted to come to work every day. Door wraps and peel-and-stick laminate added some visual texture to the space. The wall art Mixtiles were frames from our favorite spots which added some extra personalization.

This became the brightest spot in the building.

BEFORE: This was the back of the green room. It was built to section off an area where guests could wait before being interviewed on air. Since it opened to the loading dock. It was meant to be purely functional. But with people regularly coming through this space that needed to change.

AFTER: Some repainting, a repurposed sign from storage, some laminate flooring and trim, and a collection of historical elements from around the building changed the landscape and connects employees and visitors to the history of the station.

BEFORE: Due to internal changes, the loading dock space became the main entrance for our employees and guests. With the exposed framing and worn-out wall welcoming visitors, we decided to instead connect people to our history and community.

AFTER: We cleaned up the space, added fresh coats of paint and added the history wall to the back slats of the green room to make the area much more welcoming.

Animated employee directory for our internal monitors. I created the template so most of the process of creating it was automated. All the departments are color-coded and it serves as a handy tool for new hires.
